LEAN Support for Conference Attendees

Each year the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless (MCH) hosts a conference for individuals from across Minnesota. LEAN provides a variety of financial and other assistance to people with lived experience of homelessness who attend the conference. 

The two-day convening includes about 50 workshops, networking, advocacy, and continuing education opportunities. A broad range of community members attend the event, including individuals who are currently or formerly homeless, direct service providers, policy advocates, tribal members, funders, administrators, federal, state, and county officials, and MCH member organizations.

This year, over 50% of the conference presentations are from people with lived experience. This demonstrates the vital role people with lived experience play in this field and the critical importance of them being able to attend.

The response is overwhelming and exciting. It also highlights the need for additional financial support to tap into the energy to build the movement to end homelessness and housing instability in Minnesota.

For The Conference We Provide:

1. Hotel rooms, food, water, etc.
2. We carpool to ride to to the conference or pay for the cost of travel. We can buy bus tickets and train tickets or pay for gas etc.
3. We provide childcare financial assistance.
4. If people need a sign language interpreter, a wheelchair, a supportive peer, anything. We want to make sure people can show up and meaningfully engage.
5. We host a Lived Experience Sober BBQ so people from across the state can connect with each other and build community.

The Need:

We are looking to raise $10,000. Right now all donations are doubled up to $5,000!!!!

We plan to emulate our success from our two years of doing assistance for events across Minnesota.

We expect that we would be able to cover the cost of 25+ people with lived experience with your support and our individual member giving. 

If there is leftover funds we will use them for general operating.
