Help Us Drive Change: Support Living Meadows' Give to the Max Campaign
At Living Meadows, we are dedicated to providing our residents with the highest level of care, including ensuring they can access the healthcare services they need. This November, as part of our Give to the Max Campaign, we’re raising funds for a new wheelchair-accessible van that will safely and comfortably transport our residents to their medical appointments.
Why This Matters
For many families of residents who rely on wheelchairs, getting to healthcare appointments can be a daunting and costly challenge. Wheelchair-bound individuals often cannot transfer easily into standard vehicles, making it difficult to access the care they need. The cost of transportation—often hundreds of dollars per trip—can be an added burden, especially for families in rural Minnesota, where access to healthcare transportation is limited.
Currently, our high-mileage side-loading van, which was designed for smaller wheelchairs, is no longer able to meet the diverse needs of all our residents. The side-loading ramp is often incompatible with larger or specialized wheelchairs, and the tight space inside makes it difficult to position wheelchairs safely for a front-facing ride. As a result, the transportation process can be uncomfortable and even unsafe for some of our most vulnerable residents.
We are seeking to replace this outdated van with a rear-lift model that will provide:
- Safer, Easier Access: A rear lift will allow for smoother, more secure loading and unloading, reducing the risk of injury for both residents and staff.
- Increased Comfort: Residents will have a more comfortable, front-facing ride, improving the overall experience of travel.
- Greater Efficiency: The new van will allow our staff to transport residents more efficiently, easing the burden on our maintenance team and reducing wait times for appointments.
This new van will not only make healthcare more accessible for our residents but will also enhance their quality of life and ensure they continue to receive the care they deserve within our close-knit rural community.
How You Can Help
We are asking for the support of our community, families, and friends to help make this dream a reality. With your donation, we can purchase the new van and improve the transportation experience for all our residents.
Please consider giving to the Max on November 21st or anytime throughout the month of November. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a significant difference in the lives of our residents and their families.
Together, we can ensure that all of our residents can access the care they need without unnecessary stress or hardship.
Donate today and help us drive change for Living Meadows residents!
