“The Season of Giving”, is a public, donation-only round of fundraising. This phase encourages year-end, tax-deductible donations to fund our immediate next steps of pre-development through existing“Giving Days” including Give to the Max (MN) and Giving Tuesday (national). Our goal is to raise $250,000. What’s great about this phase is that anyone in the community (or outside of it!) can make a tax-deductible donation to FRFC through our fiscal sponsor, Grand Rapids Area Community Fund (GRACF).

In these critical next steps of developing a grocery store from the ground up, we need to fund  multiple necessary tasks and processes at the same time, all of which happen before we see any physical progression our site. This includes predevelopment costs such as continuing our contract for professional project management from 45 North Group, hiring an architectural firm and store designer to work onsite preparation and schematic design. From there we can begin to acquire bids from construction companies that will further impact our funding needs, finalize our external and internal store design including layout, materials, shelving, coolers/freezers, equipment, and more, as well as officially close on the purchase of our site. We believe our goal of $250,000 by December 31 will substantially cover this next step toward the development of our community owned grocery store!

100% of Free Range Food Co-op board members have already made their financial contributions. Now, it’s up to YOU! We open the opportunity for our community, and those beyond it, to invest in their values and make a donation to our food Co-op. This empowers 100% of our ownership and anyone who supports our projects’ values to participate in a meaningful way.
