The Chippewa County Historical Society is committed to the History of Chippewa County, the Preservation of Buildings in Chippewa County, and Historic Education for all ages.
The Iverson Log Cabin Project started in April 2024. There are 3 phases: Phase 1-Moving and Stabilizing, Phase 2-Structural, and Phase 3-Finishing. The Iverson Log Cabin will be made into 2 separate buildings. The large section (pictured above) with be an exhibit hall named the Evie Ostlie Annex. The smaller section (not pictured) will be the Anderson Funeral Parlor.
The log cabin was built in about 1879 by Henry Iverson in Tunsberg Township. The Ostlie/Lund family purchased the land and cabin in 1948. The cabin has had many uses over the years, its most recent being a hunting shack. The building will be named the Iverson Log Cabin. It will have many uses as an exhibit hall, such as displays, a demonstration area, Santa's workshop during Christmas in the Village, and much more.
The Chippewa County Historical Society is not only looking for monetary donations but volunteers willing to help restore the cabin. Volunteer opportunities include-Siding and Shingle Removal, Gut the Interior, Electrical, Roof Repair, Repair Miscellaneous Damage, Finish Carpentry, Decorating, and Adding Displays.
