Help Protect the most Phosphorous Sensitive lakes in Minnesota
This proposed WMA parcel is approximately 200 acres in size in Ponto Lake Township, Cass County. It includes shoreline on a pond as well as substantial shoreline on two Natural Environment lakes—Rush Lake and Round Lake. The parcel includes approximate 31 acres of mostly lake-adjacent wetlands which are prime waterfowl and wildlife habitat. There are also approximate 63 acres of open fields and 35 acres of forested land which is excellent furbearer and deer habitat. The parcel lies immediately west of a large complex of County-administered tax forfeited and State land, and east of the conservation easement. Acquisition of this WMA would create a significant conservation corridor extending from the shore of Ponto Lake east five miles.
