Veterans’ Voices draws on the power of the humanities to explore and honor the full life experiences of Veterans.
It all began when Humanities Center board member and Army National Guard staff sergeant Carinda Horton asked: When we talk about stories and perspectives that are missing or marginalized, what are we doing to include the voice of Veterans? We took this question seriously and worked with Veterans to shape a vision for programming that would be grounded by their authentic voices. Veterans’ Voices was launched!
Veterans’ Voices is a fast growing program that empowers Veterans to speak for themselves and connect with others through literature, theater, art, discussions, and the annual Veterans’ Voices Award Ceremony. We are building a network of Veterans, connected through the humanities, that is a positive and creative force in Minnesota.
