Project for Southwest Initiative Foundation

An affiliate of the Southwest Initiative Foundation, the Hutchinson Area Community Foundation benefits the Hutchinson area in Minnesota.

Mission Statement

A tax exempt, nonprofit, philanthropic organization that consists primarily of permanent and special funds from many donors which are given for long-term, diverse charitable benefit of the Hutchinson area.

Grant total since inception (including grants made for operating expenses): $405,604 

Fiscal Year 2017 Grantmaking  

Awarded grants totaling $34,231, including:

Crow River Drumline Association to replace equipment and improve performance quality

Hutchinson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism to support local events

Hutchinson Area Community Foundation to support community activities

Hutchinson Center for the Arts:

to purchase a playhouse structure and play kitchen set for the Wheel & Cog Museum

to support the Art of Fishing exhibit

Hutchinson Fastpitch Association to purchase new catcher's equipment and helmets

Hutchinson Health Foundation for the Hutchinson Elks Inclusive Park which will provide quality of life for disabled and fully functional children and adults

Hutchinson Hockey Association to support the Hutchinson Lacrosse Boosters Club with new equipment and a scrimmage trip

ISD #423 – Hutchinson:

  • to grow production capabilities of the Hutchinson High School One-Act and provide students with new technologies
  • to help the Hutchinson Lacrosse Boosters Club purchase equipment for the newly formed girls team
  • to help the Hutchinson Lions Club purchase a Flexcat 6 Pod Sound System for the Middle School
  • to provide newspapers at no cost to local teachers and students for educational purposes
  • to support Power of Produce Kids Club and actively engage children at the Hutchinson Farmers Market to choose their own fresh produce
  • to support strength and conditioning and health and wellness programs that benefit all students, athletes and district employees

McLeod Alliance for Victims of Domestic Violence to generate informational packets for potential clients and distribute them in collaboration with local police and sheriff departments

United Way of McLeod County to provide every child who lives in McLeod County an age-appropriate book in the mail each month until age 5
