Mission Statement

To provide opportunities for our community to connect the legacy of the past to tomorrow’s dreams through charitable giving and grantmaking.

 Fiscal Year 2017 Grantmaking  

Awarded grants totaling $7,075, including:

El Nido Birth and Family Ministries to provide services and materials to women to reduce the cesarean rate and increase the rate of breastfeeding

Friends of Music to support music lessons from the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis

Granite Area Arts Council to support a community concert with YME Community Education as part of the annual Ole & Lena Winter Fest

Granite Falls Historical Society to install two window air conditioners to help preserve historical artifacts

Granite Falls Living at Home/Block Nursing for a new computer and software for the volunteer coordinator

ISD #2190 - Yellow Medicine East:

  • for a recognition event at the end of the school year as part of Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies
  • for an oven at the Granite Falls Senior Center to launch the Senior Baking Program
  • to bring two professional actors from Prairie Five Theatre to introduce area youth to theatre and perform Robin Hood
  • to install updates to the Hanley Falls Legion bathrooms
  • to produce murals in the choir room painted by students and two veteran art teachers
  • to provide a healthy, mid-morning snack to students
  • to purchase new robotics equipment
  • to purchase two sewing machines to teach students in the artistic design class

Neighbors United Resource Center to supplement foods from Second Harvest Heartland with extra produce, milk and meat from local sources
