Gambling Addiction is a Problem Affecting Many Minnesotans. Treatment Works.
There is no shame in admitting you have a gambling problem. Seek help before more is lost than just your cash.
Northstar Problem Gambling Alliance (NPGA) is a nonprofit agency that focuses on awareness, education, prevention and advocacy for treatment of problem gambling in Minnesota. NPGA is gambling-neutral and takes no position for or against gambling. As the Minnesota affiliate to the National Council on Problem Gambling, we carry the message to all Minnesotans that problem gambling is an addictive condition that can be treated and for which recovery is possible. We raise funds to support educational outreach throughout the state, speaking to community groups and organizations about problem gambling and how those affected can be helped. We train professional counselors, business professionals, corrections officials and others on the topic of problem gambling. We also advocate for treatment funding.
It is estimated that more than 120,000 people in Minnesota are affected by problem gambling. The financial, emotional and social impact can be devastating. Early intervention is key, and we want people to know that there is no shame in admitting a gambling problem, and that help is available.
