MINNESOTA INDEPENDENT SCHOLARS FORUM

Since 1983 MISF has been supporting independent scholars in Minnesota and providing the community with the benefits of their work.

The Minnesota Independent Scholars Forum has two principle goals: to support individuals who wish to initiate or are actively working on research and publication, and, as an outgrowth of that, to provide the community with quality scholarly programs and discussions presented by our members and other invited scholars.

For our first goal, MISF provides members with networking, criticism, opportunities to collaborate and present their work, and fiscal agency for grants. We seek to engage all who are interested in doing scholarly research, from ordinary citizens interested in a particular topic to academics who wish to pursue something outside of their field. Formal credentials or academic involvement are not requirements. We strive to help our members reach a standard of quality scholarship.

For our second goal MISF presents talks and panel discussions, creates special interest groups, administers grants, and publishes a semi-annual journal. All our programs are free and open to the public. We desire to be a significant player in Minnesota's intellectual environment.

Our complete mission statement can be found on our website, MNIndependentScholars.org.
