Urban Arts Academy offers arts-infused education to children in South Minneapolis. We believe that every child is born an artist.

The purpose of Urban Arts Academy is to provide a substantial and sustainable investment in the children and youth of our community by offering culturally inclusive arts programs that arise out of community need and involvement. Our programs seek to nurture creativity and artistic skills in ways that become vehicles for building personal assets in our youth, their families, and community. We enhance the quality of life in South Minneapolis through creative programs for youth who, because of income, language barriers, or transportation issues would not otherwise be able to access the arts and individualized educational and developmental supports. Our purpose is to develop vibrant young artists in our neighborhoods through arts-infused education.

Offered in both Spanish and English, our programs serve children ages 3-18 and include reduced cost preschoolfree after-school arts expression and arts integration programs, and free summer arts enrichment classes. Programs are characterized as a fusion of education, arts, youth development, community building, and family support functions.

Through the arts, we promote social, academic, and family-building skills as well as create and nurture a sense of community among all neighbors. We invite you to join us and experience the richness that happens when people come together across cultural boundaries to share and learn from one another and to celebrate the unique contributions of each individual. This is what fuels the passion of Urban Arts Academy's staff, artists, leaders, children, and youth. Together we transform lives, together we transform communities!
