Our growing initiatives:
S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) - We have raised resources for S.T.E.M. equipment that school staff have identified as high need, but school resources are insufficient. Through dollars raised at SDEF events, including the Bird Bash, $52,000 has been designated to Plymouth and Robbinsdale Middle Schools for STEM equipment that includes Vernier probes, 3-D printers, and more and $43,000 was raised to expand the Engineering is Elementary curriculum to all fourth grade students district-wide.Instruments 4 Kids - We have raised over $40,000 towards the purchase of new instruments that Band/Orchestra teachers lend to students each year. Additionally, the community donated 166 used instruments that were cleaned and/or repaired, and put in the hands of teachers for students in need.
Flexible Learning Spaces - The Bird Bash 2016 focused on flexible learning spaces for our two high schools (Robbinsdale Armstrong and Robbinsdale Cooper). Over $60,000 was raised to support this renovation.
Windows and Mirrors - A project of promoting cultural diversity in literature targeted at third grade literacy.
