Second Chance is a foster-based all volunteer dog and cat rescue and adoption organization

Mission

Second Chance Animal Rescue was founded in 1994. It is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization. The foundation of Second Chance is to provide homeless dogs and cats with a second chance at life and companionship. We value the life of each animal we encounter. We work with animal control facilities and private rescue efforts to save as many animals as possible.

Programs

Second Chance operates through relationships with volunteer fosters, local veterinarians, animal control impound facilities, and other cooperative rescue efforts.  All rescued animals that come into our program are vet checked, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, wormed, FeLV & FIV or heartworm checked. They are also provided any additional vet care (e.g., dental, eye care, grooming, etc.) that they need.  After their vet visit, the dogs or cats go into foster homes where the volunteers work with each animal on its individual needs until permanent adoptive homes are found. We screen all potential adopters in order to find the best homes for a particular dog or cat. Adopters are required to sign a contract regarding the care and treatment of the animal.  Our animals can also be seen on our Petfinder page and visited in their foster homes seven days a week.
