FUND A FOUNTAIN -- and More!!

RAHS PTSA is primarily a parent forum, providing an opportunity for parents to talk with the RAHS administration and with each other about issues, both academic and parenting-focused, that are important to us as we navigate the high school years with our students.

We sponsor two main projects each year:  Direct-Giving Campaign and Teacher Mini-Grant Program.  Funds raised from the Direct Giving Campaign are invested directly back into our students and school through a Teacher Mini-Grant Program.  Mini-Grants are awarded to teachers for the purchase of “wish list” classroom items that are not covered or provided through the general school budget.  The gratitude we receive from faculty and staff for this kind of support is very rewarding.

We also sponsor special activities if there is a need or request from administration.

We sponsored a backpack drive in 2012-2013, collecting over 100 backpacks for kids in need. In the past 2 years we have sponsor a kleenex/tissue drive, with the goal being 1,200 boxes collected or purchased with PTSA discretionary funds.  In the past, the school budget or teacher personal funds have been used to purchase kleenex/tissue for the classrooms.  We would like to see the school funds used for other pressing needs if our drive is successful. We would like to continue this tradition. As of now we have purchased 400 boxes. 

Another focus this year is the funding of the purchase and installation of a water fountain with a refillable water bottle station for student use.  PTSA sponsored such a fountain in 2014-2015 and it has been immensely popular with students – there are often many students in line waiting to use the fountain.  We would like to be able to sponsor another fountain.  We are teaming with Student Council on a variety of fundraisers to support this project.  Funds received from Give MN will be dedicated to our “Fund A Fountain” campaign unless the donor indicates otherwise.
