Power of the Paw Inc

Power of the Paw got it's start in 2011 as a facebook page dedicated to help bring awareness to dogs in our state's shelters that were urgent and at risk for euthanasia. Since them, we have saved the lives of over 2,000 animals through transport, networking, fostering, and adoption. 

We are non-discriminatory, with a focus on dogs that are "hard to adopt" due to color, age, or breed. 

Black dogs are not noticed often in shelters. This is just the way the human mind works. It is called Black Dog Syndrome. The mind blends them together and considers them all the "same." Because of this, black dogs are harder to place. 

Seniors hold a special place in our hearts. Many rescues won't take seniors because they stay long and rack up many vet bills. Power of the Paw has a "hospice program" that takes in animals who may be with us for a very short amount of time, but still deserve to enjoy life, and leave this earth surrounded by love instead of being alone and scared. We love our sugar faces. 

Pitbulls have a bad stigma, but that doesnt stop us. Pitbull do sit in our organization for longer then any other breed, but that's okay! We are one of very few rescues that don't deny a dog just because of their breed. 

By taking on these types of dogs(along with medical cases), we are a unique organization who loves our supporters. Our supporters see our value and importance in the community of North Idaho!
