MN ADOPT promotes and supports successful adoptions for Minnesota chidlren and families

"What a lot of people don't realize is that, adopting a teenager, you're actually giving them a chance at life."

MN ADOPT, formerly Minnesota Adoption Resource Network (MARN), was founded by a group of concerned parents who in 1980 began one of the nation’s first efforts to find families for children in foster care.  For 37 years our mission has been to assure the right of every child to a permanent, nurturing family, to advocate on behalf of kinship and foster families, and to maximize opportunities for successful adoptions. MN ADOPT accomplishes these goals by providing the information, referral, education and post adoption services.

ZERO KIDS WAITING - The hallmark of this programming is our "meet the kids" photo listing site, which connects families to Minnesota's waiting children.  Additionally, this program provides front end information and referral to families considering foster care adoption, community awareness events, and recruitment activities on behalf of waiting children, such at the Star Tribune Featured Waiting Child and KSTP's Twin Cities Live Kid Connection feature.

HELP PROGRAM - Since 2011, MN HELP Program staff have provided easily accessible, reliable and knowledgeable post-adoption support and guidance to the Minnesota adoption community. Through their deep understanding of adoption related considerations (i.e. behavioral challenges, parenting difficulties, therapeutic need, school challenges, attachment, trauma, identity, grief & loss…etc.), HELP Program staff are able to provide objective, individualized support and connection to the resources needed.

EDUCATION PROGRAM - MN ADOPT provides on-line and in-person trainings by local and nationally recognized experts in adoption. Our trainings cover a wide variety of relevant topics the that meet the ongoing needs of families and increase opportunities for success.  Example of training topics include: Understanding Children’s Mental Health in adoption; Parent Focused Strategies & Support; Adoption & Racial Identity; Attachment information & support; Adolescent specific topics; Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder; Complex Trauma; Grief & Loss ; Sexual Abuse

If you prefer to give a one-time or recurring donation directly to MN ADOPT you can visit our web site at http://www.mnadopt.org/about/donate/

All donations to MN ADOPT directly fund recruitment and support services aimed at reducing the number of children in foster care and increase opportunities for long-term success. Research has found that children who age out of foster care face a daunting future without the support of a loving family:

  • 36% become homeless.
  • 36% are incarcerated.
  • 31% become welfare beneficiaries.
  • The teenage pregnancy rate is double that of their peers.
  • 60% probability of being employed by age 24.

At MN ADOPT we are committed to:

  • Helping prospective parents to adopt and help children who wait to find parents.
  • Giving dignity, hope and a voice to children in foster care
  • Standing for the waiting children of Minnesota.
  • Providing post adoption support and education to families who adopt waiting children, enabling long-term success.

Partner with MN ADOPT as we work to ensure that every Minnesota child has a permanent home.  Thank you!!
