A unique program of musical excellence and personal growth for Twin Cities area boys of varied social, cultural, and economic backgrounds
“The Metropolitan Boys Choir is an outstanding musical organization, but they are about much more than music. I have often asked them to perform for various military ceremonies and they always agree and are the stars of the show. However, the work Bea does goes far beyond teaching them to sing. These young men learn self confidence, attention to detail, pride, etiquette and teamwork. They will benefit from the lessons they learn long after they have graduated from the Boys Choir. I'm always amazed and impressed by their professional performances but also by their enthusiasm and joy. Yes they sing, but they also are becoming the future leaders of our community. Everyone should have the opportunity to study under the guidance of Bea Hasselmann. I'm proud to support this very worthwhile organization and encourage everyone to do what they can to assist this superb group of young men.”

The Metropolitan Boys Choir is an organization of young men from the twelve-county metropolitan area surrounding Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota. The boys range in age from five to fifteen. Founded in 1971 by Music Director Bea Hasselmann, they merit the title “Minnesota’s Young Ambassadors of Song,” given to them by the late Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey.
We are beginning our 44th season of music making and continue to offer a program that promotes good music along with values and self-discipline. The Boys Choir experience not only gives boys fine musical training but focuses on developing self-esteem, building positive relationships with peers and adults and nurturing interpersonal skills.
The choir performs a repertoire that includes a balance of Sacred, Classical Secular, Patriotic, Folk/Spiritual, Pop, Musical Theater and Opera selections. Although a program fee is suggested, the Metropolitan Boys Choir's mission is to provide opportunity to all - regardless of financial restraints. No boy has ever been turned away for financial reasons.
The cost of our program is significant. We attempt to raise 40% of our program expense by way of tuition. However, not all families are able to contribute. In 2015, we provided more than $26,000 in tuition assistance to families struggling financially. In order to fulfill our mission to provide musical opportunity to those with financial barriers, our organization must raise additional funds now more than ever.
All contributions are used to directly benefit the boys - whether from our tuition assistance program, transportation program or other areas of need.
Please know that your contribution is appreciated beyond measure. Your support makes a difference in the lives of our boys. Thank you!
