Raise the roof at your local art center!
At MacRostie Art Center, our 2017 Give to the Max Day campaign is simple: we're putting on a new roof and we need your help!
After years of fixing roof leaks with patches and holding our breath during each heavy rainfall, it's time for the MAC's roof to get an overhaul. We've worked with local contractors to put together a plan that includes not only re-roofing our 9000+ square foot building, but also expanding our existing roof drains to adequately handle the amount of rainfall and snowmelt the roof takes on, which will help prevent leaks in the future.
The MAC board has wisely established a capital reserve fund in anticipation of building needs, which will be used in conjunction with grants and other sources of funding that the MAC is pursuing through a series of applications. With a project price tag of just over $115,000, every contribution -- big and small -- will make a difference to us as we finance this project.
It is important to us that this project does not completely deplete our capital reserve fund in case of any unexpected building emergencies or unplanned maintenance that we might face in the next few years as we work to rebuild our reserves. Donations from our community toward this project can help reduce the amount that we need to draw from our reserves and will help us continue on the path of financial stability and fiscal responsibility that we have established as an organization.
Please consider contributing to our project today. Your
donation will have a very tangible benefit -- a new roof that will protect the
artwork (and artists!) that we are proud to display.
ABOUT THE MACMacRostie Art Center exists as an organization to support and advance the work of professional artists in our region and build a community that recognizes, appreciates and celebrates art. We believe that art is central to the quality of life in northeastern Minnesota – as it is everywhere – and that the artists who create, sell, and exhibit art play an important role in society. Art is not a luxury, but an important engine for economic growth and community development.
With these values at our core, MacRostie Art Center presents exhibitions, workshops, classes, festivals, lectures, and other outreach opportunities to engage the community in the arts. We support artists by providing a well-established venue for exhibition and sale of work. We work to keep the arts visible as a defining part of the community.
MacRostie Art Center is an active and involved member of the community that has been our home for over fifty years. We work collaboratively with social groups and agencies, educators, and other arts organizations on projects that reflect our shared objectives. It is the goal of the MAC that our services will reach all segments of the community, our efforts will enhance the status of northern Minnesota as an arts destination, and the artists who live and work here will be supported and valued.
