About Lyra

The Lyra Baroque Orchestra brings a rare freshness, color, and dimension to the glorious music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries through its performances on period instruments. The region's only period instrument orchestra, Lyra combines the talents of renowned local early music specialists and international guest artists, under the inspiring artistic leadership of Jacques Ogg.

In 2023, Jacques Ogg announced his retirement from Lyra's artistic director position and in 2024, he was voted artistic director emeritus. He will return in June to close out Lyra's fortieth anniversary season. To fill the position of artistic director, four exceptional candidates have been selected from all over the world. Each candidate will travel to Minnesota to design and lead a concert with Lyra. They are: Judith Steenbrink of the Netherlands, Bojan Cicic of the United Kingdom, Pedro Gandia Martin of Spain, and Rachell Ellen Wong of New York City. You won't want to miss a single concert!
