Founded in 2004, LOON strives to provide world-class opera performance and education in the North, for all ages in a diversity of venues and formats. It seeks to increase audience awareness of opera as an art form, and to promote collaborative projects with other regional artists and organizations.

Every production this season takes place at the Depot Theatre: An Evening of Song with Sadie Cheslak, Lacy Sauter, Bill Munson, and Jessica Schroder in September, Menotti's beloved Amahl and the Night Visitors in January, and Sondheim's A Little Night Music in June. And, in school gyms, Little LOON patrons in schools across the northern part of Minnesota (and in Superior, Wisconsin), will experience Opera for the Young’s adaptation of The Elixir of Love, giving more than 10,000 students a moment to savor an art form we hope they’ll claim for a lifetime.

  • Ticket sales cover only one-third of the cost of any opera production. Your gift is essential to LOON's continued success!
  • Sustaining monthly donations to LOON can be set up through our website's donation page.

Thank you for your ongoing generosity toward Lyric Opera of the North. We'll see you at the opera!
