Lyric Opera of the North

Founded in 2004, LOON strives to provide world-class opera performance and education in the North, for all ages in a diversity of venues and formats. It seeks to increase audience awareness of opera as an art form, and to promote collaborative projects with other regional artists and organizations.

On stage this season (LOON's 20th!), you’ll see three operas that explore first impressions and immediate connections. And, in school gyms, Little LOON patrons in 38 schools across the northern part of Minnesota (and in Superior, Wisconsin), will experience Opera for the Young’s adaptation of Rusalka: A Mermaid's Tale, giving more than 10,000 students a moment to savor an art form we hope they’ll claim for a lifetime.
