Kids Closet of Duluth

Clothes for school and winter wear distributed to low income children referred by their school as needing this help. Average of 900 served yearly.

Kids Closet was organized in 1982 by retired teachers in cooperation with the Duluth Schools to equalize the opportunity for children to be adequately clothed for the classroom and the weather. Parents are given the opportunity to choose the items their children would use and love. Since we are 98% volunteer and housed in Spirit of God Lutheran Church, we are able to spend 99% of donated funds on the purchase of clothing, shoes and boots.  This augments the used clothes which the community donates directly.

Each child referred by their school receives a winter jacket, snow pants, winter boots, hat, and mittens for the journey to school and new shoes, a new outfit and two used outfits for the classroom.
