Harmony Area Historical Society

HAHS was incorporated in 2000 and became a 501(c)(3) organization in 2005. Our mission is the collection, interpretation, preservation and dissemination of historical information relating to the Harmony area. The organization has compiled/documented/organized a significant collection of Harmony information and items. HAHS has created interpretive displays at the Community Center, Visitor Center, on the bike trail and a Historic Signage Walking Tour in Downtown Harmony.

Currently HAHS is developing a project to restore and preserve the historic 1879 McMichael Grain Elevator at the entrance to Harmony. This effort is well underway despite delays this year due to COVID-19 issues. The property has been donated for preservation, determined to be eligible for listing on the National register of historic places and project plans are in development. HAHS has been successful  in pursing grant dollars for early phase activity and will pursue more fundraising activity in the future. Harmony's 125th Anniversary celebration  (delayed from 2020 due to COVID-19) will be our major kickoff for the project. This project will be a multi-phase multi-year project that will require significant resources.
