Fostering appreciation and understanding of the culture, language, arts, and ongoing history of the German-speaking peoples.

The Germanic-American Institute has been built on three pillars: Education, Culture, and Community. In order to continue to fund and grow these three pillars, we need to raise $40,000 for the 2017 Annual Fund campaign. Your financial support will help us continue to build the GAI as an internationally-recognized center for Germanic culture and language.

• Kinderstube German Immersion Preschool, serving over 50 children ages 3-5
• Samstagsschule and Summer Camps for school-aged children
• Adult language classes with 12 levels of instruction
• Scholarships and work-study opportunities for students of all ages

• German for Travel and Genealogy classes offered through various Community Education programs
• Resource Fair for students wanting to study in Germany
• Topics classes for adults with themes such as short stories, current events, and modern German literature

• History lectures and bus tours related to Minnesota's ties to Germany
• Germanic genealogy presentations and workshops
• Kultur in der Küche classes teaching people how to make specialty dishes from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
• Films, concerts, and book readings that reflect Germany's modern, multi-cultural identitity

• Educational exhibit about the Reformation and the life of Martin Luther
• Saint Paul Oktoberfest, produced by the GAI at the historic Schmidt Brewery
• Transfer of Memory portrait exhibit, co-produced with the Jewish Community Resource Council (coming spring 2018!)

• Kaffeestube weekly breakfast and Stammtisch, the best-tasting and best-priced lunch in town
• GAI helping to fund the Twin Cities German Immersion School 8th-grade trip to Germany
• Member Appreciation week, capped off with the Kaiser's Boogie-Woogie Ball
• GAI volunters, the HEART of our family!
• Interest-based groups like the knitting circle, Sprachklub, and model train enthusiasts

• Story-telling project bringing St. Thomas German students and GAI founders together
• Kinder in der Küche workshops for children and (grand)parents to cook together
• Member nights to explore the history, culture, and cuisine of Germany's varied regions

Your 2017 Annual Fund donation supports all three pillars of the GAI's mission and outreach. You can make an impact and help us grow even further in 2018 by donating to the GAI's Annual Fund today!
