We create and support access to quality jazz education for Minnesota youth through multiple programs and partnerships
You can help Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education raise at least $10,000 of the $15,000 it takes to sustain our exciting, new music education program, Experience Jazz, presented in partnership with McNally Smith College of Music! Launched in October 2017, this new program is serving 25 jazz students from across the community, and employs 4 talented local jazz artists as educators.
DFJE Board Chair, Justin Christy, says "While rooted in jazz, this program embraces the power and artistry of hip-hop, rhythm & blues and other genres students and instructors want to explore together. Our goal is to bring together students of various cultural and musical backgrounds in an innovative music-making environment.”
It takes $7,200 to pay our teaching artists, who are working to engage students across musical genres and abilities to learn and collaborate in making music together. Our fundraising goal includes an additional $2500 to fund up to 20 need-based scholarships - $500 covers full scholarships for four students, which gives students an innovative ensemble experience, connecting them across communities & genres.
Please consider a donation to DFJE at one of the levels below:
- $1500 pays one teaching artist for 10 (of 16) sessions
- $500 covers books and materials for 15 students
- $125 covers full scholarship for one student
We are pleased to announce that the DFJE Board of Directors will match up to $1,500 of the first donations received!
