No-kill shelter serving Blue Earth and Nicollet counties
You can help save a life!
Perhaps former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden expressed it best when he said, “Little things make big things happen.”
Those words are certainly true at BENCHS. It is estimated that 6.5 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide each year. Compared to that huge number, BENCHS contribution to homeless cats and dogs may seem small. But by getting to know more about what happens at BENCHS, you’ll see how the little things we do make big things happen.
BENCHS staff and volunteers are dedicated to saving the lives of over 1,000 cats and dogs every year. Each day we provide medical care, food and a safe place to sleep for injured, abandoned and homeless animals in our shelter. Our goal this year is to raise $40,000 by the end of Give to the Max Day to pay for veterinary care needed to place these animals in their forever homes. If you believe, as we do, that every animal deserves a second chance, let's come together to reach this goal.
The Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society (BENCHS) was established in 1969 to care for homeless, injured, abandoned and abused animals. We have been happily at home at the Riverside Regional Pet Shelter in Mankato, Minnesota, since 2010. The shelter operates with limited paid staff and relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to maintain quality care for the animals we accept and place. We do not receive support from national animal welfare or humane associations.
