Our Mission is to advance the long-term survival of bears worldwide by replacing misconceptions with scientific facts about bears, their role in ecosystems, and their relations with humans.
Your generosity over last several years has provided the funds to purchase and install new fencing for bear enclosure as well as make many improvements to their habitat. These projects would not have been possible without your generosity. We thank you.
This year’s Give to the Max Day campaign funds will be used to begin the construction of a new Intern Housing Complex across the street from the Bear Center. Our internship program is a vital part of the success of the bear center. The goal of the North American Bear Center’s internship program is to give pre-professionals a strong background in black bear biology, ecology, behavior, and animal husbandry. We also strive to help them gain confidence in public speaking and communication. Our interns continue our mission in educating the general public about bears, our local ecology, and provide essential bear care and enrichment to our Ambassador Bears. You can learn more about our internship programs by clicking on this link.
Please be sure to check out our website where you will find live cams of our Ambassador Bears, information about our programs, a link to our Social Media pages, a gift shop, along with location and hours for you to plan your visit to this truly remarkable one-of-a-kind nature center to learn about bears from the bears themselves!

We thank you for your support in helping us further our mission.
