Pilgrim Baptist Church of Saint Paul was founded in 1863 and is the oldest African American Baptist church in the state of Minnesota.
Pilgrim Baptist Church was founded by escaped slaves who, with the help of the Underground Railroad, journeyed to Minnesota.
For 154 years, Pilgrim has shared Christ’s message of love through preaching, teaching, worship, prayer and community outreach.
Pilgrim is raising funds to support the church’s ministries, to enhance youth initiatives and to help maintain the aging church facility. Pilgrim has a legacy of community service that addresses needs at various ages and stages of life. Pilgrim’s service includes hosting Boy Scout, Cub Scout and Girl Scout Troops, hosting the “Jolly Seniors” which is a program for Senior Citizens that provides nutrition and informational sessions, hosting a chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous, hosting a community garden, providing a “Little Free Library” to inspire a love of reading, supplying food baskets during the holidays and assisting members of the community with social service needs.
Pilgrim is the place where the “Walk of Faith Transforms Lives”.
