Lisa raising money for Springboard for the Arts
Novi Most combines brave physicality, excellent writing and international aesthetics to make new works for the theatre.
OK, here is the Give to the Max Day letter from your friends at Theatre Novi Most, the small theatre company with BIG ideas.
Did you know our name means “Theatre of a New Bridge”? That’s what we do. We build artistic bridges and we start new conversations on them. We build bridges between the page and the stage. We build bridges between the performers and the audience. We build bridges between the heart and the mind and the soul. And, with your help this year, we can build the bridge between our current accomplishments and the vision we have for the future
In March we will present our staging of The Seagull by Anton Chekhov directed by Vladimir Rovinsky and with a cast that includes a remarkable mix of Twin Cities favorites, Novi Most core members and some new faces. The Seagull will run at the Southern Theatre where Theatre Novi Most is in artistic residence as part of ARTshare. We are thrilled to be working on this classic Russian play about ideals, love and art.
This year’s fundraising for Give to the Max Day is focused on paying artists for The Seagull and on hiring a new part time grand writer. Thus, building another bridge — between the donor and the direct patronage of artists.
We have a board member ready to match dollar for dollar our first $1,000 in donations on Nov 12 so your donation is doubled!
Brave Physicality + Excellent Writing + International Aesthetics = Novi Most
Whether your favorite was Rehearsing Failure, Something About a Bear, Picnic on the Battlefield, Delirium for Two, M2 or Oldest Story in the World, if you’ve experienced us in the past seven years then you know we are committed to and capable of, high quality, intelligent, original theatre in the Twin Cities. You know that we make one show a year through a collaborative process that cooks "slow art". We choose to work with very skilled writers, actors, directors and designers and we don’t rush the process. We are proud of our legacy and our connections to the traditions of theatre in Eastern Europe as well as our taste for the contemporary American moment.
We are a small company with an ambitious vision that explores the full range of what theater can be. We have excellent partners behind us, and the production values to make it real. What we need now, more than ever, is you. Help us build the strongest theatrical bridge we can in order to let disparate ideas, cultures and practices clash, comingle and cross-pollinate.
YOU ARE AN IMPORTANT PART
By being a donor the Theatre Novi Most you will be helping us expand our mission to include the development of several new plays and performances that are in the works and even more workhsops and events for Russia-American families in the Twin Cities. Thank you for your past and future support. We truly cannot do what we do without your generosity and participation. Our audiences are so special to us and we valure you so much.
