Since 2011, Martin County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition has empowered youth to make healthier choices, significantly reducing substance misuse in our community. In fact, we’ve seen a 66-percent drop in alcohol and traditional tobacco use among eighth graders - a huge milestone!
But the numbers for vaping and marijuana use are going up, and students’ attitudes toward marijuana use are becoming more permissive. Obviously, there is more work to be done. With one of our key sources of funding ending in 2026, your support is essential to sustain the programs that are helping youth make positive choices. We need your partnership to ensure the future of our comprehensive prevention work. Will you join us in empowering our youth to make healthy choices by making a gift today?
What do we do with those funds? Just this year, we launched new prevention and intervention programs in area schools, organized substance-free youth events with hundreds of attendees, and educated thousands of community members on healthy lifestyle choices. Stu dents in Empower, the MCSAP youth groups at all area high schools, attended leadership training, presented the prevention message to their peers, and educated local and state lawmakers on effective measures for reducing youth substance misuse. Help us continue this life-changing work!
“The students from Martin County who visited the Capitol with Minnesotans for a Smoke-Free Generation show amazing passion...If these are the leaders of tomorrow, we are in good hands.” Rich Draheim Minnesota State Senator
