Upper Midwest's Only Non-Profit Native Theatre Company
Thank you for your support of New Native Theatre!
We're a new way of looking at, thinking about, and staging Native American stories.
Started in 2009 by playwright, Rhiana Yazzie, NNT has been serving Minnesota's Native community and beyond with authentic and loving stories by and for the Native American community and all of Minnesota. Since becoming a formal non-profit in 2008, we've seen our growth expand exponentially! This year there have been more opportunities than ever before to be on stage as a Native artist. With the continued production of new plays, events, and advocacy that NNT is dedicated to, more Native artists and community members have been able to see performing arts as a meaningful career path.
Next year we have so much more in store; we need your help to produce this wonderful array of programming!
- A New community created play, about the signing of the Fort Laramie Treaty that attempted to end the US/Lakota war and take the Black Hills from the Lakota Nation, will debut in April in Rapid City followed by a run here in Saint Paul at the Andy Boss Theatre at Park Square.
- A summer play tour debuting at the Minneapolis American Indian Center's outdoor amphitheater.
- The Third Annual National Native American Ten Minute Play Festival at Gremlin Theater.
- The premiere of a new play, AMASANI, by Blossom Johnson (Dine')
