Happy Dancing Turtle promotes sustainable living through education, outreach, and demonstration. HDT is based in Pine River, MN.

Happy Dancing Turtle is a non-profit dedicated to inspiring a more resilient and sustainable way of living. We are building awareness and fostering innovative stewardship through outreach, demonstration, knowledge-sharing, collaboration, leadership development, and community engagement.

HDT educates and shares knowledge through workshops, classes, activities, tours, and media material. The largest example of demonstration is that of our gardens. In Pine River, on the Hunt Utilities Group Resilient Living Campus, there is large garden that is both productive and also a means of demonstrating resilient agriculture techniques and practices. This garden provides produce for CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares that are part of our Whole Health Pine River-Backus program. To participate, families and individuals may apply to receive a share of fresh produce delivered weekly. See the below project for more details and to donate to this unique program.

The importance of inspiring stewardship and love for nature is something we aim to do with all of our youth environmental education programs. Eco Camp is a week-long day camp that teaches the fundamentals of environmental respect and nature-based science all while having fun, playing games, and experiencing the outdoor world. Other youth focused programs include Tiny Turtles, Turtle Treks, In-School Science, Nature Club and more.
