Support our 18th season!

Open Eye Figure Theatre creates original image-driven theater animating the inanimate on an intimate scale and builds community by advancing adventurous, artist-driven programming.

From experimental figure theatre spectacles, to puppet shows in backyards, to concerts and storytelling, our whimsical work surprises and delights audiences in our historic jewel-box theater in Minneapolis and neighborhoods throughout the Twin Cities.

Your support allows us to:

  • Cultivate emerging and established artists through adventurous programming.
  • Expand community outreach opportunities through our onstage productions, Driveway Tour, and more.
  • Offer an Economic Accessibility ticket option at every performance.
Open Eye has presented more than 225 performances in 2017 reaching 10,500 people—and the year isn't over! These included The Red Shoes, Driveway Tour shows, Milly and Tillie, summer concerts, SenseAbility, Toy Theatre After Dark, The Dream Channel – Episode 3 (in 3D), and many more.

Support Open Eye and you'll help us create our signature work in our theatre and throughout the Twin Cities.

Coming soon, we'll present more artist-driven work (including Trial Child, Nurture a better Nature with guests from LA, Shá Cage's Khephra: A Hip Hop Holiday Story, and Jay Eisenberg's Big Old Rock), a new Artist in Residency program, and plans to expand to an outdoor venue. More details coming soon!

What audiences, critics, and community members are saying:

"What a jewel-box of a theatre! The performance was thrilling and I look forward to attending more shows at Open Eye. Thank you!" - audience member

“The Drive Way Tour is an incredibly successful ‘icebreaker’ for any community gathering. Everyone feels welcome to be themselves, share their own experiences, and to engage with other members of the neighborhood.” - Driveway Tour host

"Probably the best adjective to describe The Red Shoes is intricate. It's a pleasing puzzlement with lots of moving parts, a story that constantly morphs in scale and a staging that keeps you guessing." - Dominic Papatola, Pioneer Press

"The world never fails to look different when I leave its circle of magic." - Audience member and sustaining donor
