About the Immunization Action Coalition

Our History

"I began my full-time commitment to immunizing children against preventable diseases in 1987 when my clinic began seeing hepatitis B cases in newly arriving Hmong refugee patients. My commitment accelerated in 1990 when these same children became infected with measles and three Hmong children in our city died. Since that time, IAC has been working tirelessly to make sure, as much as possible, that every child in this nation is protected against vaccine-preventable diseases."

Executive Director Deborah L. Wexler, MD, Immunization Action Coalition, a 20-year-old national nonprofit located in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Our Mission

The Immunization Action Coalition works to increase immunization rates and prevent disease by creating and distributing educational materials for health professionals and the public that enhance the delivery of safe and effective immunization services. The Coalition also facilitates communication about the safety, efficacy, and use of vaccines within the broad immunization community of patients, parents, health care organizations, and government health agencies.
