"The news is not solely about political plays, crime reports, sports scores, business updates, or lifestyle trends. At its core, storytelling — especially through first-person narratives — has the power to shape society's understanding of truth, injustice, and what is essential for building healthier communities. At Minnesota Women's Press, we are committed to using our media platforms to amplify transformative stories, focusing less on the noise of daily updates and more on fostering deeper connections and meaningful change.” — publisher/editor Mikki Morrissette

Help Us Reach Our Need: $100K by Year-End!

As we celebrate nearly four decades of storytelling at Minnesota Women’s Press, we invite you to be a part of our mission to empower women and marginalized voices across the state. This year, we aim to raise $100,000 to ensure the sustainability and growth of our print publication — which nearly closed on October 30, if not for generous early donors — and the online Changemakers Alliance (CALL), enabling us to continue our vital work in social justice and statewide community engagement.

CALL takes the legacy of Minnesota Women’s Press — the longest continuously run feminist publication in the country — one step further. We host discussions on core topics that can support legislative advocacy, story development, multimedia communication, and other ideas generated by members. Together, we are connecting engaged feminists who care about finding solutions and taking action.

Why Your Support Matters:

Elevating Women's Stories: We provide a unique lens on issues that matter, ensuring the amplification of voices of women and communities often overlooked in mainstream media. We have more than 420 print distribution sites. Our digital readership has grown significantly, with tens of thousands engaging with our online content each month.

Critical Funding Needs: This year we have faced revenue gaps from our legacy print advertising model that have not been able to keep up to rising costs, including for printing and shipping, equipment upgrades, significant landlord maintenance increases, and repaying a line of credit. We have new movement in place for additional revenue streams, but need your help to get there.

Your Contributions Will Help Us:

  1. Enhance Coverage: We are offering post-election coverage curated with a feminist lens. In the coming months we will increase our statewide conversations-to-content about mutual aid efforts and movements.
  2. Grow Our Team: We need to hire a Membership and Development Director to build our statewide presence and enhance our grant and underwriting dollars. This position should bring in a very necessary $150,000 in additional revenue in 2025.
  3. Support Community Conversations: Our 2025 stories will include the Collective Health series to discuss pain points, identify solution makers, and connect people in collective action steps to address mental health, housing, and gender-based violence.
  4. Create New Platforms: We are launching the Books & Arts newsletter, for those times when we all need a break.

What Readers Are Saying:

“I think it should go bigger. It’s really the only women’s paper in the state.”

“I love its unique lens on the news, which I don’t find elsewhere, even at publications I admire such as MinnPost and Sahan Journal.”

“You have reason to be proud.”
