Beacon Preparatory School

Beacon Preparatory School is a 6th – 8th grade public charter middle school that graduated its first class in the spring of 2011. That same year, the school drafted its first Strategic Plan to chart the way forward to ever greater success. This year marks the 5th Anniversary of Beacon Prep's mission to engage students in a rigorous, content-rich curriculum with an emphasis on Classical, liberal arts education, designed to prepare each individual student for life-long learning and citizenship.

Beacon Prep’s Core Knowledge curriculum and Classical Education model prepare our students to think, speak, read and write critically and well though the Trivium of grammar, logic and rhetoric and through the study of Latin language. In addition, we emphasize individual character development through the Seven Character Pillars of honesty, respect, integrity, compassion, confidence, excellence, and citizenship.

As our school continues to strengthen and grow as a spirited, diverse and rigorous learning community, it’s our goal to offer an annual 8th Grade Capstone Trip to Washington, D.C., to culminate and celebrate the effort and achievement of all our students. Moreover, this educational opportunity will advance our school’s mission and vision and serve as an eriching and edifying experience for our 8th grade graduating class.

Our students, parents, teachers, administration and Board have all been working very hard to get involved with our local communities and fundraise for this exciting trip. However, we will need additional financial support to ensure this truly memorable visit to our nation’s capital becomes a reality.
