Rhythmically Speaking raising money for Rhythmically Speaking
Support the vibrancy of jazz and American vernacular dance!
Touted by national publication Dance Magazine as "revitalizing jazz and American vernacular dance in the Twin Cities area," Rhythmically Speaking is proud to support and present quality performance work. We are in our ninth year of programming building a strong community of artists and patrons, and are excited to announce that we were recently awarded 501(c)3 status, officially designating us as a nonprofit organization!
While work is well underway for programming including our 2017 annual production (running August 17-19 at the Illusion Theater in downtown Minneapolis), we need your help to make it all happen. Ticket sales and supportive yet fluctuating grants from local institutions cover our production costs: it is your contributions that allow us to continue making more meaningful the stipends we offer to artists for their work.
Your contributions will directly compensate the 2017 choreographers for their creative costs, time and effort in generating thought-provoking new choreographic work that enriches our community and the larger jazz and rhythm-driven dance scene. While our 2017 annual production artists have not yet been selected, you can learn more about past shows at the Rhythmically Speaking website.
Your donation goes further on GiveMN's Give to the Max Day, a celebrated day of charitable giving in Minnesota landing on November 17th this year. That day, matches and hourly contests reliant upon incoming donations could as much as double the funding we receive, so it is an excellent day to show your support! Additionally, while fundraising isn’t free, you can now ensure that 100% of your simple-to-offer, secure donation goes directly to us! When you make a donation to us here and choose to cover the processing fee, you help us focus our resources on supporting jazz and American vernacular dance!
A quick description of our work from a 2016 show from an attendee:
"Beautiful. True. What else matters?"
If you too believe Rhythmically Speaking enriches Minnesota and the dance community at large, become a part of it by supporting this simple and effective way to contribute to our work. Thank you for your support!
