Our cultural memories are at RISK because they were recorded on video & audio tape that can disintegrate, cannot be played back, and may be lost forever. NOW they can be saved and digitally restored. Our professional team guides artists and organizations through their collection rescue process and helps capture their context and purs to preserve our cultural memory.pose, making these stories more relatable and accessible online for today’s audiences.

Minnesota Media Arts is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to preserve our cultural memory, by cataloging and digitizing archive collections, and providing improved digital access to Minnesota’s media arts programs, documentaries and independent productions. We were originally founded in 1983 as the Twin Cities Cable Arts Consortium to promote and distribute arts programming on Cable TV systems throughout Minnesota. We are continuing to work with Minnesota's creative communities, both individuals and organizations, to better manage and stabilize their video, film and audio collections that preserve our rich and expressive Minnesota cultural heritage. We do this by offering educational resources, research, and media archive services.

Thanks to your contributions we can expand our services:

1- Building out MN Media Arts “digital archive repository”, supporting catalogs of legacy digital media programs and increasing access via online media channels. 

2- Continue providing archival quality preservation and digital conversion services for the art communities through our Twin Cities media preservation labs.

3- To help create a new “funding strategy” for our 2024 facility and office space, fostering engagement opportunities with our target audiences through our preservation media labs, presentations, as well hosting educational events such as Community Media Archiving Workshops.
